‘Big fan’: Eddie Hearn says Arsenal have two players who are better than Harry Kane

Eddie Hearn knows a world-class sportsman when he sees one.

The world-famous promoter has worked with the best of the best in many sports from boxing to snooker to darts.

While football isn’t Hearn’s speciality, the boxing promoter does know a thing or two about the beautiful game, recently playing in Soccer Aid and often discussing the Premier League when he appears on TalkSPORT or Sky Sports News.

Speaking to Livescore on TikTok, Hearn has been discussing the current crop of England stars, and he’s ranked the five players who he believes are the best in the team.

Interestingly, Hearn put two current Arsenal players ahead of Harry Kane, claiming that he’s a big fan of both Bukayo Saka and Declan Rice.

Eddie Hearn puts two Arsenal players ahead of Harry Kane

Hearn shared his verdict on the current England squad.

“Bellingham at one, I’m a big Declan Rice fan, number two, then Foden, Saka and Kane,” Hearn said.

Eddie Hearn has never rated Harry Kane

Interestingly, this isn’t the first time Hearn has diminished Kane’s ability.

Kane actually spent time at Leyton Orient as a young player, a club that was then-owned by Eddie Hearn’s father, Barry.

During his time on loan at Leyton Orient, Kane’s ability was questioned by the chairman’s son.

“We would do some work with Spurs with Harry [Redknapp] bringing some young players in. Tom Carroll and Andros Townsend, and famously Harry Kane, who, I actually saw the other day and reminded him that when he was at Orient we didn’t think he’d ever make it,” Hearn said.

“He went back and we were like ‘Andros Townsend, wow, he can play, he’s rapid and Harry Kane, he’s a lovely young man but probably not going to cut the mustard’. And he goes on to be one of England’s greatest ever strikers.”

Of course, Kane has since proven the boxing promoter wrong, but the fact that he’s still ranking Saka and Rice above Kane suggests that he’s still not fully sold on Kane as a player.
