Matty Cash is being courted by another Italian giant in the shape of AC Milan, and according to Dean Jones, speaking on the Ranks FC Ultras Podcast, Unai Emery is happy to let Cash go this summer.

“There’s a lot opening up right now, Matty Cash is likely to leave, I understand that Unai Emery is happy for him to leave the club,” Jones said.

Villa’s big summer

This is going to be a big summer for Aston Villa.

Luiz is set to leave, Cash looks set to go, while Jhon Duran is also being linked with a move away.

That’s three quite high-profile departures that are on the cards, and that’s not ideal for a club looking to kick-on.

Of course, there are two potential new players coming in as a part of the Luiz to Juventus deal, but there are other issues that will need addressing.

This is a big season coming up for Aston Villa, Champions League football will bring about a new challenge, and that added fixture congestion could also affect their league form.

Villa looked to be in a great position to kick on and challenge at the very top at the end of last season, but these rumours so far this summer suggest that Unai Emery’s side could take something of a backwards step this term.

If Cash goes, Villa will need to find a quality replacement for the full-back.
