'Bizarre' - Carragher bemused by what he's seen prospective Everton buyer do this week

Jamie Carragher has labelled the development of John Textor’s public Everton comments as “bizarre” as the American looks to buy the club.

In his latest column for The Telegraph (13 September), the former Liverpool man said he believes the frontrunner for the Toffees purchase made some unjust comments towards Sean Dyche.

Textor has until 30 November to buy the club from current owner Farhad Moshiri, and in an interview with Sky Sports, he ruffled a few feathers at Goodison Park.

Carragher said in response to that interview: “The bizarre comments from Everton bidder John Textor underline what Dyche would be up against.

“Pragmatic Evertonians understand the wisdom of keeping faith with Dyche until the club is sold. Once Everton are more secure on and off the field, even Dyche will appreciate the natural evolution will most likely mean he moves on.”

John Textor to sack Everton manager Sean Dyche?

The American businessman has not shied away from the changes he would bring to Merseyside and was open about his plans given the opportunity.

Dyche is already under pressure after three losses from as many games to start the season, and could be out the door before Christmas.

Something that the English coach has always ensured is Premier League safety, even with a points deduction, so an instinctive decision could come back to bite Everton.

If Textor takes ownership of the football club, then he will want to ensure their safety first of all, and Carragher has a point that the Toffees need to be “secure”.

Only time will tell whether these developments have a positive impact on the club, but the potential buyer looks eager to get started and begin making changes.

The big question then, though, is whether those changes will keep Everton in the Premier League?

In other Everton news, a familiar face could return as the Director of Football.
