John Wenham wants Tottenham star Richarlison sold in January and Will Lankshear promoted to the role of backup striker.
The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose is “bored” of the Brazillian’s constant injury setbacks.
According to Postecoglou, Richarlison will be out of action for quite some time, which is bound to be frustrating for the Australian.
Postecoglou said (via Fabrizio Romano, 8 November), “Richarlison will be out for a significant amount of time. It’s a significant hamstring injury”.
And Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – thinks Spurs already have a replacement for the 27-year-old.
“I’m just bored of it now,” Wenham said.
“Richarlison should have been moved on in the summer and the club must now look to move him on in January.
“Lankshear can become the deputy to Dominic Solanke. We’re never going to know how good Lankshear is until we give him a run of games.
“Yes, his red card was frustrating, but he’ll bounce back. Therefore, I’d be more than happy for Richarlison to be sold in January and Lankshear utilised as a backup striker till the end of the season.”
Will Lankshear to replace Richarlison at Tottenham?
It is hard to blame Richarlison for his constant injury setbacks. However, it is also hard for the club to continue justifying paying wages to someone who is hardly contributing.
Therefore, cutting ties with the ex-Everton striker and promoting Lankshear instead could be a wise move.
Lankshear grabbed his first goal in Spurs’ 3-2 UEFA Europa League defeat against Galatasaray at RAMS Park (7 November). His night did end on a disappointing night as he was sent off.
However, the 19-year-old was still hailed for his performance after the match.
Therefore, cutting ties with an expensive, injury-prone asset such as Richarlison and replacing him with an academy gem could be a smart long-term move.
In other Tottenham news, Son Heung-min’s camp are unhappy with the club as a controversial exit route emerges.
