'Brilliant': Rio Ferdinand says £19m Man Utd star is definitely the 'first name' on Ruben Amorim's team sheet
"He's been brilliant." ????
After Ruben Amorim’s rocky start to life as a Premier League manager, there is a feeling of positivity surrounding Manchester United after their 2-1 win against Manchester City.
Much like when Erik ten Hag’s United side beat Liverpool 2-1 after the unconvincing beginning to his time at Old Trafford, Amorim has managed to pull a similar result out of the bag against City.
Manchester United will be aware that in the aftermath of their celebration after winning the Manchester Derby, they will have go on a winning run.
Currently, the Red Devils are still sitting in 13th place in the Premier League, indicating how poor a season they have endured so far.

However, Amad Diallo is one player who has really benefited from Ruben Amorim’s appointment and seems ready to dig his side out of the rut they find themselves in.
Diallo’s brilliance overshadowed Marcus Rashford’s omission from United’s squad as he won the penalty for Bruno Fernandes’ late equaliser before tucking away the winner at the Etihad Stadium.
Rio Ferdinand sang the £19 million (BBC Sport) man’s praises after his match-winning performance for the Red Devils.

Amad Diallo named Ruben Amorim’s main man at Man United
Ferdinand pinpointed how the 22-year-old has showcased that he is ready to exhibit his talent not just with the ball at his feet but out of possession as well.
But more importantly, the popular pundit claimed on the Rio Ferdinand: Presents YouTube channel that Diallo is now the first name on Ruben Amorim’s team sheet at Manchester United.
“And the new manager’s come in and I would go as far as to say he’s the first name on the sheet for this new manager and that’s a testament to this kid’s character, his will to change the tide and swing against the current and say to people, no, no, you can’t leave me out. You can’t!”
“I might be small in stature but I got the biggest heart. I’m going to run, I’m going to work and then I’m going to make decisive, great decisions when I’ve got it, I’m going to impact the game.”
Ferdinand concluded: “With and without the ball, he’s been brilliant and I think he’s a real footballer. I don’t think that was ever in doubt, everyone could see the talent. But they just didn’t see the other side of him when you look at him.”
Rio Ferdinand had revealed Diallo was “written off” by Manchester United for being “lightweight”, lacking “power”, his engine, age and fee.
Amad Diallo saved Ruben Amorim from becoming the first Manchester United manager since Louis van Gaal from losing three league games in succession as well.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer always knew Amad Diallo was a star
In January 2021, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer raved about Diallo and claimed that he is one of the most talented young players across world football.
The Norwegian claimed: “Having watched him myself, I believe he is one of the most exciting young prospects in the game.”
“It will take time for him to adapt but his speed, vision and fantastic dribbling ability will stand him in good stead to make the transition.”
“He is a player with all of the raw attributes that are needed to be an important player for Manchester United in the years to come.”
Solskjaer’s prediction about Diallo is ageing brilliantly, as he is proving his worth in Ruben Amorim’s system.
