Rangers have been blasted as “embarrassing” for the way they’ve handled the renovation of Ibrox by BBC Scotland pundit Marvin Bartley, who also shared that club chiefs might soon come out and speak to fans to address their concerns.

Speaking on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard on Thursday (July 18) about the Ibrox-Hampden fiasco, the former player said he is hoping that somebody is “sorting the issues out”.

He added that from what he’s seen, he’s expecting the club chiefs to come out and speak to fans with regards to the current situation.

Bartley said: “I’m a massive advocate of Scottish football and I always try to speak about it as highly as I can. To see one of our top clubs be in this situation doesn’t look good for the people looking in on us.

“For us it’s kind of embarrassing, for us as Scottish football, I’m not just talking about one football club regardless of who it is.”

He added: “I’m sure I saw something the other day that they [club chiefs] will come out and they are going to speak to fans, but they need to do it sooner rather than later.”

Rangers to play home matches at Hampden Park

Rangers fans finally have clarity on where they’ll be cheering on their team at the start of the new season. With Ibrox undergoing prolonged renovations, there’s been a lot of uncertainty. But now, the SPFL has confirmed that the Gers will temporarily play their home games at Hampden Park.

This announcement comes just in time, with Champions League and Premiership matches on the horizon. The SPFL and Scottish FA have approved Rangers’ request to use Hampden until at least September 5, covering fixtures against Motherwell, Ross County, and potentially some Champions League games.

The club will also fund a pitch growth program to ensure the Hampden surface is in top condition for their first home game.

Rangers will kick off their Premiership campaign away at Tynecastle against Hearts, followed by their first home match at Hampden against Motherwell on August 10.

While this solution is temporary, there’s still uncertainty if Ibrox will be ready by September 5. Club officials worry it could be October before they return to their home ground.

For now, fans and players alike will be adjusting to their temporary home at Hampden Park.
