Bryan Mbeumo to Newcastle: Brentford 'will accept £50m offer'

Newcastle United have placed Brentford winger Bryan Mbeumo on their wanted list, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that the Bees have set a “price tag of around £50million” for the 25-year-old.

Newcastle see Mbeumo as an ideal option to go and fill the problematic right-wing position that the club have been trying to fill for some time.

Well-placed sources have told Football Insider that a move in January is unlikely to happen due to the price tag, even if Newcastle were to sell somebody.

There might be restrictions placed on the Magpies regarding what they can spend the upcoming transfer window, and there will be more luck in the summer.

Brentford will also be more likely to be open to offers for the Cameroon international after the season is done rather than in January.

Bryan Mbeumo could be set for a move to Newcastle United

Mbeumo is out of contract at Brentford in June 2026 and will only have one year remaining on his deal by the time the summer transfer window opens.

Brentford will not stand in the player’s way if a good offer comes in for him at that stage, and the summer window will be their final chance to cash in on the winger if a new deal isn’t agreed.

Eddie Howe’s side aren’t the only Premier League club monitoring Mbeumo though, as Football Insider revealed that Arsenal are also keeping tabs on him.

The Cameroon international has made a sensational start to the 2024-25 campaign, having scored eight goals in the opening nine Premier League fixtures.

Mbeumo has been a proven attacking threat in the English top flight having scored 30 goals and provided 21 assists during his 107 appearances in the division.
