The scary Oasis coincidence which has returned to haunt Manchester City after comeback tour announced

Oasis are practically synonymous with Manchester City.

When you think of the Citizens, the likes of Sergio Aguero, Maine Road, Blue Moon, Pep Guardiola and the colour blue spring to mind – as do Liam and Noel Gallagher.

The pair are diehard Manchester City fans, with Oasis performing at Maine Road in 1996 and regularly being seen nowadays at the Etihad Stadium.

However, as the Gallagher brothers – who disbanded Oasis in 2009 – prepare for their comeback tour in July 2025, a spooky coincidence involving their beloved Manchester City has come to light.

How the presence of Oasis coincides with Manchester City struggling for success

Just one season after Oasis split up in August 2009, Manchester City ended their 35-year long wait for a trophy with FA Cup glory in May 2011.

During the many years in which the Gallagher brothers continued their public feud and Oasis were not around, the Citizens prospered, hoovering up eight Premier League titles, three FA Cups, six League Cups and the UEFA Champions League.

Now – however – since Oasis announced their comeback, Manchester City find themselves seventh in the Premier League on a run of just one win in 12 games across all competitions, 22nd in the UEFA Champions League and also out of the Carabao Cup.

A very spooky coincidence – to say the least.

Why Pep Guardiola and Manchester City are struggling this season

To go from winning four consecutive Premier League titles to this currently dismal run of form is quite the drop off from Manchester City, but how has it happened?

Firstly, the attitude towards recruitment and sales has reeked of arrogance.

Manchester City sold Cole Palmer, Romeo Lavia, Morgan Rogers and many other top talents during their period of success – all of whom would arguably start for the Citizens right now and for many years in the future – while showing a lack of awareness towards the age of the stars they did keep.

For example, Kevin De Bruyne turns 34 in June and has looked a shadow of himself this season, while Kyle Walker – who Manchester City are happy to sell – is seriously struggling at the age of 34.

Injuries have also hurt Guardiola, with Ruben Dias, John Stones and Nathan Ake struggling to stay fit in defence, while the influential Rodri is out for the rest of the season.

The precocious Oscar Bobb also suffered a serious knee injury during the summer, which has ruled him out of action so far this term.

Evidently, the return of Oasis is not the reason for Manchester City falling from their perch this season – despite the eerily coincidental nature of the situation.
