Reigning Bundesliga Champions, Bayer 04 Leverkusen, are looking to ward off Manchester United’s interest in Super Eagles striker, Victor Boniface, by handing him an improved contract, Soccernet.ng reports.
The 23-year-old has been one of the brightest prospects in Europe since last season, scoring thirty goals in his debut campaign as Die Werkself cruised to the Bundesliga title unbeaten, alongside the DFB Pokal.
His brilliant start to life in Germany saw him win the Rookie of the season award, drawing interest from Europe’s big boys, with Manchester United being the most notable suitor.
As per Sky Germany’s transfer expert, Patrick Berger, Xabi Alonso’s side are looking to renew Boniface’s contract that’ll see him extend his stay at the Bay Arena beyond the summer of 2029.
“Bayer Leverkusen is in talks with Victor Boniface (23/) about an early extension from 2028 to 2029 – at the same time, this would be linked to a salary increase and adjustments in line with his performance.
No pressure on either side. Talks are ongoing. Clubs from England – including Manchester United – are interested. But: the currently injured attacker is happy with the Werkself and sees his medium-term future in the Rhineland for now,” the journalist posted on his official X page.

On the flip side, Boniface has mentioned several times that he wouldn’t be interested in playing in the English Premier League in the future, stating a preference to instead, play in Spain.
