Carlo Ancelotti has made a prediction about Enzo Maresca amid concerns over the Chelsea head coach’s lack of ‘experience’ at the top level.

The football world was left stunned when Mauricio Pochettino left his role as head coach this summer as BlueCo decided to bring in Leicester City’s boss.

‘That was probably the biggest shock I had [last] season,’ Liverpool legend and football pundit Jamie Carragher exclusively told Metro.co.uk.

‘I could not believe it. It’s a ridiculous decision. But, it’s just another one on the long list of ridiculous decisions Chelsea have made.’

Lots of Chelsea fans have since expressed concerns over Maresca’s inexperience ahead of the 2024-25 Premier League season.

Leicester was just his second job in first-team management after a poor stint with Parma in Italy’s second-tier Serie B.

Ancelotti, though, has played down Maresca’s lack of experience and has predicted that the Italian will ‘do well’ at Chelsea after his superb work behind the scenes at Manchester City.

‘Experience is not the most important part of our job,’ Ancelotti told John Obi Mikel’s Obi One Podcast.

‘It’s part of our job, but of course, the most important part is the knowledge.

‘And the fact that he has experience with Pep Guardiola and with Leicester City, I think he has the knowledge to manage and to do well at Chelsea.’

Ancelotti became the first Italian manager to win the Premier League during his time at Stamford Bridge.

The 65-year-old is currently in charge of Real Madrid and is very much seen as one of the best managers in world football.

He is the most successful boss in the history of the Champions League, having clinched the trophy five times.
