Slavia Prague have officially signed 20-year-old Nigerian midfielder David Moses from fellow Czech club MFK Karviná, Soccernet.ng reports.
The young playmaker has committed to a contract running until December 31, 2029, as he sets his sights on emulating the success of his compatriots at the Czech giants.
Moses, a product of the Karviná academy, joined the club in March 2022 and made an immediate impression.
His competitive debut for Karviná came against none other than Slavia Prague in the domestic cup round of 16 on November 18, 2022—a game Slavia won 2-0, with goals from Peter Olayinka and Lingr.
During the 2023/24 season, Moses played 25 league matches, helping Karviná secure survival in the Czech top flight after a successful playoff campaign against Vyškov.
This season, he made 13 appearances, further showcasing his talent and contributing to Karviná’s current 11th-place standing.
Speaking after signing his five-year deal, Moses expressed his excitement and gratitude.
“I feel great, I’m very happy. It’s a big step for me,” the midfielder told Slavia’s official website.
He also revealed the influence of his compatriots at Slavia Prague, particularly Nigerian legend Peter Olayinka.
“I know Slavia players from Nigeria. Peter Olayinka is a legend. Ogbu is also doing well at Slavia. I also know Tijani; they are a great inspiration to me,” Moses added.
Slavia Prague, despite a recent league loss to Teplice, remain dominant in the Czech top flight.
They lead the league with 50 points after 19 games, seven ahead of Viktoria Plzeň and 13 clear of reigning champions Sparta Prague.
With Moses’ arrival, the club aims to further solidify their grip on domestic supremacy and continue their push for European success.
