Lilywhite Rose expects 'Disappointing' Tottenham player to refuse transfer exit

Tottenham could struggle to sell exit-linked midfielder Yves Bissouma.

As reported by Alasdair Gold via Football London [9 December], Spurs could be open to allowing Bissouma to leave the club next summer.

Therefore, it looks as though the Mali international’s days could be numbered in North London.

However, Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – feels that a sale might be difficult and that Bissouma could take some convincing to accept a move away.

“From Spurs’ point of view, selling Bissouma makes sense,” Wenham said.

“I think he has been hugely disappointing since joining the club. We’ve never really seen the Bissouma we saw at Brighton. However, I can’t see why Bissouma would want to leave next summer.

“He seems to have a happy life in London, a couple of kids, he’s earning good money at Tottenham, and Hotspur Way is like a seven-star golf club. Therefore, it isn’t easy to move these players on when they’re not performing.”

Bissouma will have one year left on his contract with Spurs next summer. Therefore, if the North London club want to move him on, the player would need to agree to a sale.

While he hasn’t necessarily been the first name on the teamsheet this season, the 28-year-old has still featured fairly regularly for Ange Postecoglou’s side.

Therefore, unless he isn’t adequately replaced next summer, that would likely continue to be the case during the 2025/26 season, which would mean there would be little reason for the player to leave.

As a result, if Spurs want to offload Bissouma, they will need to sign a replacement and make it perfectly clear to the player that he isn’t a part of the club’s plans.
