Simon Jordan believes Everton will have the money to buy players in the upcoming January transfer window.
The Friedkin Group have now officially confirmed their takeover of the Merseyside outfit and, at the moment, have a stake in the club that’s worth 98.8 per cent [Kieran Maguire, 19 December].
The process has been rather long and drawn out since Farhad Moshiri initially put the Toffees on the market but now things are finally falling into place, better days more than likely lie ahead for Sean Dyche and his men.
Speaking live on talkSPORT (19 December, 10:23am), Jordan shared why he thinks Everton will be able to spend some money to bring in reinforcements during the January transfer window, though flagged a potential issue with PSR parameters.
“I think they’ll certainly have the cash to do so [buy players],” he said.
“Whether they have the PSR headroom, the ridiculous PSR governance which is strangling the league now, obviously if they’re taking out debt, the implications of debt and interest will be reduced a lot and they’ll have more room in there.
“I think yes they will, I think that clearly they’re not buying a team to struggle and the team isn’t just struggling because the ownership model was disappearing, the team was struggling because it needed investment.
“With that in mind, I expect that there will be investment, I don’t think there will be a confetti of investment because I think they will get caught in certain governance but they’re certainly going to have cash and whether that cash can be deployed, that’s the bigger question.”
Why should The Friedkin Group bring in some new players at Everton?
While Everton aren’t in the bottom three spots of the Premier League just yet, there’s only a three-point gap between themselves and 18th-placed Ipswich.
While this might not seem like the end of the world, it still feels like there should be a bit of cause for concern in the Goodison Park camp.
Indeed, Dyche has got the club through far tougher times such as last season when they were deducted points from their Premier League total on two separate occasions as they breached the Premier League’s PSR rules twice.
Of course, nothing is yet set in stone and The Friedkin Group haven’t shared their plans for the upcoming window but it feels likely that some new faces could be welcomed through the Goodison Park doors in January which can only be a good thing for the Merseyside outfit.
In other Everton news, the future of Jake O’Brien now seems sealed after the latest transfer news that has emerged from Goodison Park.
