Celtic fans have demanded new signings to replace Liam Scales after his performance in the victory v Hibernian on Sunday (11 August).

Brendan Rodgers’ side ran out 2-0 winners in a dominant display at Easter Road thanks to goals from Nicolas Kuhn and Callum McGregor.

However, it was Scales’ display that brought the focus of the Hoops’ fans as he turned in another inconsistent and error-prone performance.

The centre-back completed 133 passes, made three clearances and won nine of his 11 duels as he helped the team to keep another clean sheet.

However, only 50 per cent of his long balls found their man and he lost possession ten times, while it was his constant delays in playing out and clumsy challenges which saw him booked and left fans frustrated.

Supporters have been demanding improvements to the team all summer, but are now fearing the worst with Scales likely to be starting when their Champions League campaign kicks off.

Football Insider reported earlier this summer that fans are beginning to grow frustrated at a lack of transfer activity, with many now calling for the board to invest in a new defender.

Scales’ performance has done little to ease those frustrations, with many now insisting he must be replaced “ASAP” in an effort to strengthen Rodgers’ squad.

Supporters flocked to social media following the 2-0 victory, and made their anger at the centre-back clear as he was labelled “appalling” and “a liability”.
