Chelsea Sources: Big Mudryk update tonight

Chelsea attacker Mykahilo Mudryk faces an important pre-season at the club this summer with his future under new doubt.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed playing time for Mudryk could come at a premium next season if he does not show new head coach Enzo Maresca his importance to the side.

Chelsea are expected to be well-stocked with wingers in the new campaign with Raheem Sterling, Noni Madueke and potentially new recruits such as Michael Olise in the building.

Football Insider reported on 18 June that the west Londoners see the Crystal Palace man as a primary target and are willing to pay “over the odds” to secure his services.

What this could mean for Mudryk is uncertain – the £88.5m Ukrainian only started 18 Premier League matches last term – but a potential late summer move is a growing possibility.

Chelsea recruitment could be bad news for Mudryk

Whilst Mudryk’s current focus is on the national team who have crucial upcoming group matches at Euro 2024, the 23-year-old must hit the ground running in pre-season.

Mudryk is contracted at Chelsea on a gargantuan deal until the summer of 2031, and the chance to impress the new boss will represent a fresh opportunity following his stop-start first full campaign at the Bridge.

As reported by Football Insider [18 June], Mudryk may find his future in “serious question” should he be back in a limbo of inconsistency again next season.

The Ukrainian could push for a move if he does not find himself playing regular football under Maresca, with a number of clubs set to hold an interest in Mudryk and be “willing to take a punt” based on his footballing CV so far.
