Confirmed: Everton teenager makes contract decision

Everton Academy goalkeeper Douglass Lukjanciks has signed a professional contract lasting until June 2027, the club have confirmed.

The Toffees announced the deal on 23 October via their official website, with the England Under-18s international signing a three-year deal at Goodison Park.

The 17-year-old keeper only became a first-year scholar at the start of this season and has now penned a new deal to keep him on Merseyside.

This has ended any transfer interest from elsewhere with the likes of Aston Villa [FootballTransfers] and Manchester City [Fabrizio Romano] showing interest recent months.

The Toffees are certainly in need of as many academy graduates to add to their senior squad and push through to become first-team regulars in the future.

There haven’t been many in recent years, which has certainly been an additional frustration for supporters at Goodison.

Roman Dixon has made first-team appearances this campaign but has since dropped back into the academy.

There is a hope that Lukjanciks could be the next big thing for Everton given the level of interest in his signature and the size of the clubs enquiring.

He is only 17 years old but the club view him as a potential replacement for longstanding goalkeeper Jordan Pickford in the future.

With that being said, it is such a massive positive for the club to have tied the youngster down to a new deal that lasts until he is 20.

There is plenty of excitement surrounding the keeper from supporters and it is clear that the club rate him highly as this deal proves.
