Philippe Clement’s confirmed Rangers starting XI to face Dynamo Kyiv at Hampden Park has been announced.
The Belgian has dropped Scott Wright from the starting line-up for the first time this season and named new arrival Jefte in the attack as one of only two changes from the 2-1 victory over Motherwell at the weekend.
Star Wolfsburg loanee Vaclav Cerny is also back among the substitutes for Ross McCausland after his excellent goal-scoring performance against Stuart Kettlewell’s side.
Brazilian Jefte had replaced the exit-linked Scottish winger at half-time during the first leg but surprisingly dropped back to the bench on Saturday, just as Cerny’s return to the subs is a turn-up tonight.
Jack Butland is in goal behind James Tavernier, Robin Propper, John Souttar and Ridvan Yilmaz, while Mohamed Diomande and Connor Barron stay in midfield, with Tom Lawrence flanked by the two changes behind Cyriel Dessers in attack.
Ross McCausland and Jefte in for Rangers at Hampden
The Light Blues secured a battling 1-1 draw in Poland last week thanks to Desser’s last-gasp equaliser.
Had the return leg been at Ibrox there would likely have been significantly more confidence of Rangers getting this crucial European job completed.
Clement had indicated that Cerny wasn’t yet fit to start against Motherwell after his assist brought the goal for Dessers.
But the Czech made the most of his place in the XI for the 2-1 victory in the first outing at Hampden of the season, scoring a wonderful first goal for the club with a curling effort from the edge of the area in stand-out performance.
The second half showing last time out was far less impressive, and the fact that Cerny was withdrawn early likely had a big part in that.
Clement will have to hope that Jefte can build on his own solid showing against Kyiv last week and the Light Blues can remain in contention into the second half before the loanee winger can be introduced.
And with Propper experiencing a chaotic debut at the weekend where he scored an own-goal past Butland the former FC Twente captain will need to show greater composure here.
In other Rangers news, an exit-linked Ibrox star wants to stay at the club but Clement isn’t interested.
