Dan Bardell predicts if Tottenham will complete £25m+ midfielder signing

Dan Bardell has suggested that Tottenham will be put off signing Andreas Pereira due to the fee that Fulham will demand this summer.

A report from Globo Esporte (5 June) suggested that Spurs were interested in signing the midfielder with talks set to be held.

Ange Postecoglou’s side have joined the likes of Aston Villa and Newcastle United in contacting Fulham about securing his signature.

Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell believes that Tottenham will be put off by the transfer fee that their London rivals could demand.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Bardell said: “The problem Spurs have got is that even a player like that, who wouldn’t be first choice, he would still cost a fair bit.

“I wouldn’t see Fulham being happy with anything less than £25m to £30m for him. I don’t envisage that being a deal that happens for Spurs.

“He is a player who has done well and can be happy with what he’s done at Fulham. He has had a good few years but I just don’t see him at Tottenham next season.“

Tottenham interested in Andreas Pereira

After leaving Manchester United, the Brazilian could have gone one of two ways but has gone from strength to strength in the Premier League.

He spent time away from Old Trafford in Spain, Italy and back in Brazil but in a two-year spell with Fulham, he has been successful.

Pereira is a steady player and would certainly be a useful asset to the squad under Postecoglou if he signed this summer.

He is a Brazil international who is good with the ball at his feet and also has great quality from set pieces whether that be crossing or shooting.

It must be said that he would not be guaranteed a start at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with Pape Sarr and Rodrigo Bentancur being the preferred midfield duo.

If someone like Pierre Emile Hojberg departs this summer then he needs replacing and although it isn’t like-for-like, Pereira could be a positive signing.
