Dan Bardell shares transfer he expects to happen at Tottenham after 'Unusual' player move

Dan Bardell believes Tottenham will now sign a new striker after selling Troy Parrott to AZ Alkmaar.

Spurs announced to their official website on 13 July that the Republic of Ireland international had completed a move to the Eredivisie.

The 22-year-old has only ever made four first-team appearances for Tottenham, having spent four loan spells away from North London.

Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell sees Ange Postecoglou bringing in a new striker to replace the outbound Parrott.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Bardell said: “It comes in as £6.5m of pure profit for Tottenham.

“That’s for someone that hasn’t ever really been integrated into the first team and probably doesn’t have a pathway baring in mind Tottenham have signed Timo Werner permanently.

“You’d also expect them to sign another striker at some point this window. I don’t think Tottenham can play another season with the same options available, the fans won’t be happy with that.

“I always respect British and Irish players who go and better themselves abroad to try and get first-team football.

“It seems to be a good move for both parties, albeit an unusual one to see a young Irish forward move to the Eredivisie.“

Troy Parrott confirms Tottenham exit

The Spurs supporters have always had high hopes for the academy product but the chance just hasn’t come in the Premier League.

It could be said that he has been hampered somewhat by a selection of poor performances on loan, where goals haven’t been free-flowing.

With that being said, the ex-Excelsior loanee scored 17 goals in the Netherlands last season and could have been afforded a chance at Spurs next season.

After a permanent deal for Werner was confirmed and links to striker options like Jonathan David have arisen, selling Parrott makes sense for all parties.
