Dharmesh Sheth thinks Everton have done good work in the deal that takes Amadou Onana to Aston Villa.
Speaking on Sky Sports News’ Transfer Talk podcast on Wednesday (July 17, 35mins 25 secs) Sheth called the agreement beneficial for both clubs.
Journalist Sam Tighe suggested the Toffees might also be happier to let Onana go if it means keeping star centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite.
The pair discussed the potential transfer and its implications with Sheth saying: “It does look a good one for Aston Villa and dare I say it, for Everton as well to get that kind of fee.”
Tighe then replied: “I think they were probably happier to let Onana go than Branthwaite, if this means Branthwaite stays I think everyone’s happy.”
The Telegraph’s John Percy later added on X (17 July) that all financial terms are now agreed, with Onana set for a medical at Villa this weekend ahead of a £50million move.
Amadou Onana deal hugely beneficial for Everton
Aston Villa’s £50million deal for Everton’s midfield ace Onana is great news for the Toffees. The 22-year-old Belgium international is set to join Villa after his medical this weekend, and this transfer benefits both clubs.
For the Toffees, the big cash inflow is a huge plus, and it means they can potentially keep key players like Branthwaite at the club, which is fantastic news.
Onana leaving Goodison Park after two years gives the club a chance to regroup and strengthen other areas.
The money from his transfer helps the Toffees stay financially healthy and avoid any issues with financial fair play rules. Plus, it lets them focus on making smart moves in the transfer market.
In short, letting Onana go for £50m is a smart move for Everton. It brings in much-needed money and allows the club to build a stronger team for the future. This deal is a big win for Sean Dyche’s side.
In other Everton news, shock has emerged as a “strange” Dele Alli agreement is reached at Goodison Park.
