Diogo Jota suggests there's a player at Liverpool who's actually even better than Jude Bellingham

Liverpool star Diogo Jota has been making some big claims lately.

The versatile forward is currently away on international duty with Portugal at Euro 2024. He hasn’t started a game yet, but we all know he can be a game-changer off the bench.

Some of the 27-year-old’s recent comments have been very interesting.

Jota claimed he’s a better finisher than Mohamed Salah. He also named Alexis Mac Allister as the best player in the Premier League right now.

The Portugal international even suggested that Mesut Ozil was better than Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard.

Let us tell you what he has done now.

Liverpool’s Diogo Jota ranks Trent Alexander-Arnold higher than Jude Bellingham

Trent Alexander-Arnold has sparked a lot of debate recently.

The Liverpool vice-captain, who is naturally a right-back, has started each of England’s first two games at Euro 2024 in midfield.

Alexander-Arnold showed some decent quality on the ball, but Gareth Southgate’s tactics just haven’t allowed him to show his strengths.

That is a huge shame as the versatile Englishman has the ability to be a superstar in the right system.

Since England’s draw against Denmark, Alexander-Arnold has come under a ton of criticism. Many people are blaming him for his side’s poor form.

However, those who play with Alexander-Arnold rate him extremely highly – Jota is one of them.

In a video on Goal, the Portuguese forward was asked to blindly rank players from one to five. When Alexander-Arnold’s name came up, he placed him in second.

Then, Jude Bellingham’s name was put in front of him. Based on their current form and reputation, many would’ve expected Jota to put the former Borussia Dortmund star ahead of Alexander-Arnold.

If you thought that too, you’re wrong!

“Three then,” Jota said, ranking Bellingham third, thus suggesting that the Liverpool number 66 is better than the Real Madrid superstar.

How England can get the best out of Alexander-Arnold

Alexander-Arnold’s biggest strength is his passing.

The Englishman is up there with the best passers in the world, and he has provided some amazing assists at Liverpool over the years.

In the England national team at the Euros, Alexander-Arnold has no runners for him to ping a long diagonal to. Phil Foden takes up a central position along with Harry Kane and Bellingham, while Kieran Trippier doesn’t get too high up the pitch either.

Bukayo Saka is the only one who offers Alexander-Arnold an option for a long pass, but since the Arsenal man plays on the same side as him, balls to him become too predictable.

Instead of dropping Alexander-Arnold, we think Southgate should put Foden on the bench and replace him with someone like Anthony Gordon, who constantly tries to run in behind.

The former Everton man’s movement will open the door for Alexander-Arnold to make that trademark diagonal pass, and we’re sure he’ll find him.

That could change England’s fortunes at Euro 2024.
