Neil McCann is fearful that Tom Lawrence may have picked up a serious knock as Rangers smashed FCSB 4-0 in the Europa League at Ibrox.

After scoring the first goal on 24 October, Lawrence was forced off in the break after picking up a knee issue in an awkward challenge.

The Wales international was on the floor for some time, and McCann expressed concern on BBC Sportsound [24 October, 20:48] over the 30-year-old potentially having a serious issue.

“The disaster is for the boy, to pick up an injury,” he said.

“The doctors are there, the physio, they’ve obviously had a look at it. It looked really, really awkward the way it got trapped underneath.”

Tom Lawrence injury news at Rangers

Lawrence has been one of the most reliable options for Philippe Clement this season, and the Belgian has regularly used the attacker in his starting side.

In the 2024/25 campaign, the 30-year-old has been involved in all but one fixture in the Scottish Premiership, scoring three goals and providing one assist.

Despite the Gers’ poor performances in recent weeks, the Welshman has still been able to show glimpses of his quality on the pitch.

However, the Light Blues have failed to perform convincingly as a unit this season, and it’s no surprise that questions are being raised about Clement’s future at the club.

Therefore, the Bears need to bounce back collectively, and the likes of Lawrence and Nedim Bajrami, who starred for his country during the recent international break, have the ability to unlock any defence.

Hopefully, the Wales international being substituted is just a precaution, and he doesn’t end up having a severe issue, with the team back in action against St Mirren on 27 October.

In other Rangers news, Jack Butland had his own moment to forget in the showdown against FCSB.
