Tottenham Hotspur will look to make it two wins in a row when they take on Liverpool in Sunday’s Premier League encounter in North London.
Tottenham triumphed in a seven-goal thriller against Manchester United in the Carabao Cup on Thursday, so confidence will be high for the game against the Reds.
However, Liverpool are flying high at present, sitting top of the Premier League table and the Champions League standings, while they also won in the Carabao Cup in midweek.
TBR Football looks at who Ange Postecoglou could name in his starting XI for the game against Arne Slot’s side at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Tottenham team news v Liverpool
Destiny Udogie and Timo Werner remain doubts for Sunday’s match against Liverpool after sitting out the Manchester United game.
Werner missed the Carabao Cup quarter-final due to illness, while Udogie was absent after limping off during the 5-0 victory at Southampton last weekend.
Micky van de Ven, Guglielmo Vicario, Cristian Romero, Richarlison, Ben Davies and Wilson Odobert remain injured, while Rodrigo Bentancur is suspended.
Tottenham predicted XI v Liverpool
Postecoglou hasn’t got many options at the back, so there’s a good chance Pedro Porro, Radu Dragusin and Archie Gray will be in defence in front of Fraser Forster.
One change could come at left-back, with Postecoglou saying “the plan is for Destiny to be okay”, and if so, he would replace Djed Spence.
Tottenham’s midfield pivot is likely to be composed of Pape Matar Sarr and Yves Bissouma, with Bentancur still suspended domestically.
The other change could come further up, with Brennan Johnson potentially returning to the right flank and Dejan Kulusevski returning to No. 10.
This would see James Maddison drop out of the starting XI, though the £40million man could potentially come off the bench later on in the game.
In-form striker Dominic Solanke and captain Son Heung-min would complete the starting line-up.
Tottenham predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Forster; Porro, Dragusin, Gray, Udogie; Sarr, Bissouma; Johnson, Kulusevski, Son; Solanke
