Rangers target and Atletico Nacional winger Edier Ocampo is likely to be months away from regular senior football, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.
The injury expert claims that as the Colombian has not played outside his home country and is still pretty young, the transition to regular first-team football will be gradual so as to ensure he does not suffer any setbacks.
This comes after Fichajes reported on 25 July that Gers have made an offer to sign the 20-year-old winger.
Discussing his situation exclusively with Ibrox News, Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, said:
“Ocampo has not played outside Colombia and is still very young so signing him for the first team would be improbable, at least for the first season.
“The ideal way for Rangers to ensure his transition is seamless is methodically increasing his strength and conditioning work to meet game demands while bedding him in gradually.
“Have to allow for adaptation both mentally and physically.
“I’d say, he would be a few months away from regular senior football and would have to be gradually integrated when ready.“
Edier Ocampo would be a quality long-term fix for Rangers
Gers should sign Ocampo as a promising prospect for the future due to his impressive performances and potential.
At 20, he’s already shown his worth, showcasing versatility as a right-back and winger.
His inclusion could provide depth and competition in the squad, especially if James Tavernier departs.
Ocampo’s ability to contribute both defensively and offensively makes him an appealing target for Philippe Clement, who is looking to strengthen his team for the future.
In other Rangers news, a verdict has emerged on a Manchester United player moving to Ibrox on loan this summer.
