Doctor View: Out-of-fitness Rangers player unlikely to fail medical with 6-figure exit on cards

Rangers goalkeeper Robby McCrorie is lacking fitness but should not face issues with his medical, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert claims that is because keepers undergo different kind of pre-transfer medicals which involves minuscule physical activity in comparison to outfielders.

This comes as the Ibrox outfit are in talks with Aberdeen over a transfer for the 26-year-old for a £500,000 fee, per the Daily Record.

Discussing his situation exclusively with Ibrox News, Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, said:

McCrorie has been the second choice all season so will undoubtedly be short on match sharpness.

“It wouldn’t impact his medical but will impact his overall fitness and match rhythm.

A keeper’s medical is different in that there are different metrics you’re looking for and different areas to focus on considering keepers don’t complete nearly the amount of physical activity as outfielders.

Rangers must look to cash in on Robby McCrorie

Selling McCrorie to Aberdeen for £500k makes sense for Gers as he’s not a first-team regular and is unlikely to ever be the first choice.

The 26-year-old has been unable to force his way into Philippe Clement’s plans at Ibrox, with Jack Butland the definitive first choice.

The sale would provide the club with a financial boost and allow McCrorie to seek regular first-team football elsewhere, which he is unlikely to get at Ibrox.

In other Rangers news, Philippe Clement will now tell a first-team player to clear out his locker at Ibrox as a development has emerged from Glasgow.
