Brentford have become the first Premier League team in history to score in the opening minute in three consecutive games.

The Bees took a 1-0 lead against West Ham on Saturday after just 38 seconds with Bryan Mbeumo getting on the scoresheet at the Gtech Community Stadium.

That comes after Mbeumo scored with 23 seconds on the clock in their previous top-flight game against Tottenham seven days ago.

Brentford also took a very early lead against Manchester City on September 14, with Yoane Wissa firing Thomas Frank’s side ahead after 22 seconds.

Why do Brentford keep scoring early goals in the Premier League?

Brentford manager Frank, speaking after Brentford broke the Premier League record for back-to-back fastest goals against Spurs and City, said: ‘We work on it.

‘No doubt about it. We have a clear plan for it. Obviously, we know it’s difficult to score every single time from a kick-off.

‘We have players around where the ball drops and then we play from there and then maybe teams are not ready. We were definitely ready, I think that’s the most important thing.’

Speaking to VAVEL, Frank added: ‘First and foremost, it is not a coincidence. It’s not like we just roll it back and kick it forward.

‘We maybe roll it back and maybe kick it forward, or maybe we do something, but there’s clear roles for everyone involved.’

Who is Brentford's set-piece coach?

Brentford’s set-piece coach is Keith Andrews, who is said to be the mastermind behind the club’s recent early goals in the Premier League.

There are some elements of luck – such as winning the toss and the play falling Brentford’s way – but as manager Thomas Frank confirmed, there is also a lot of hard work in training that goes into it.

Who scored the fastest goal in Premier League history?

The fastest goal in Premier League history was scored by Shane Long after just 7.69 seconds.

Long netted for Southampton against Watford on April 23, 2019 in the 2018-19 season.

The second-fastest strike came in 2022-23 when Philip Billing scored for AFC Bournemouth against Arsenal after 9.11 seconds.
