Real Madrid have now made Everton ace Jarrad Branthwaite a “concrete target”, according to TEAMtalk.
It was reported by Caught Offside (10 November) that the LaLiga giants had identified the centre-back as a player of interest, and online outlet TEAMtalk (25 November) said their interest has now been firmed up ahead of the January window.
Branthwaite has a deal until June 2027 but the report says Everton are at risk of losing their prized asset to an “elite” club, with Madrid eyeing a January transfer target as a replacement for the injured Eder Militao.
Everton must stand firm on Jarrad Branthwaite
There is a sad inevitability about Branthwaite’s future at Everton.
The simple fact is, one day, the 22-year-old is going to be sold and sold for an astronomical amount of money such is the talent he possesses.
But, for now, the Toffees just absolutely have to stand firm, they simply cannot allow Branthwaite to be sold in January, no matter how much Madrid or any other potential suitor may offer.
He is simply too important to the club right and if Everton are to drag themselves away from a relegation battle then having Branthwaite in their ranks is going to be crucial to their chances of doing so.
In the summer, when hopefully the Blues will be under new ownership and on a much firmer financial footing, then potentially it could be revisited as his sale could raise funds to hugely improve the squad on the whole.
But a January sale has to be an absolute no, no.
In other Everton news, a sack decision on Sean Dyche must now surely be made amid new David Moyes update.
