Ridvan Yilmaz is unsure whether to take up the offer to leave Rangers for Turkish giants Galatasaray before the transfer deadline, according to Fotomac.
The Turkish outlet reported via X on 6 August that the left-back is uncertain of the move due to the potential reaction from fans of his former side Besiktas.
The two sides are heated Instanbul rivals but the Gala management are now trying to convince him to head back to the Super Lig.
Yilmaz has also been linked with a return to his former side this summer where he would rejoin Giovanni van Bronckhorst who originally brought him to Ibrox [Turkiye Gazete, 18 June].
Philippe Clement also let Borna Barisic leave Rangers
Yilmaz started the opening day draw at Hearts on 3 August so it would require a reshuffle if the repeated links to a Turkey return this time see him leave.
Philippe Clement has brought in Jefte this summer who could step in, but the 20-year-old was secured to replace Borna Barisic in the squad after the Croatian made his own move to the Super Lig with John Lundstram at Trabzonspor.
The Ibrox boss made clear earlier in the window that everyone aside from Jack Butland is available if the right offer is put on the table [Rangers Review, 14 July], and the first half at Tynecastle demonstrated the concerns of Yilmaz’s diminutive stature.
He improved after the break and has shown flashes of being a dynamic presence down the left flank, when fit, but Ibrox News pundit Derek Ferguson believes his lack of physicality means he needs to move on.
But he is one of so many Rangers players to have proven unreliable in terms of injury and it wouldn’t be a shock to see the club cash in if the money is there, even if it would add yet another required signing to the list.
However, it remains to be seen if a sufficient bid is on the cards at club level after the 23-year-old appeared close to leaving in January only for no offer to reach the asking price.
In other Rangers news, the Light Blues will look to offload Cyriel Dessers if they are to push for a £5million-plus striker as links refuse to go away.
