Everton ace shares what he has quickly learned from supporters

Iliman Ndiaye has shared that the support from the Everton fans is spurring him to play his best football this season.

The 24-year-old has been a revelation at Goodison Park since his move from Marseille and has proven to be a “wonderfully gifted” player for the Toffees.

However, Everton have been pulled back into a relegation battle after the 0-0 draw against West Ham United, and Ndiaye revealed to the club’s official website [19 November] how the supporters and Sean Dyche will help him overturn the side’s fortunes in the Premier League.

He said: “I have only been here for a short time but you can see already how Evertonians get behind their players, even in pre-season. I am learning more things about Everton every day and that’s something I’ve been keen to do, of course. But, above all, I just can’t wait to get out there and play and contribute.

“I feel like I’m suited to what the manager wants. From very early on in my career, I was told to do the hard work first and the rest will follow. I’ve stuck by that. I think that’s the same kind of philosophy here – everyone works hard and every player brings their own qualities and attributes to make it a full performance.

“You have to bring your own piece to it – for me, I can bring my skills, scoring goals, making assists, plus the hard work for each other.”

Iliman Ndiaye is the key to success for Everton

Dyche’s long-term future at Everton has been the subject of speculation throughout the 2024/25 campaign.

He will have to prove he is the right man to lead the side into the new era at Bramley-Moore Dock, as prospective owner Dan Friedkin is expected to ask the boss to reapply for his role [Alan Nixon].

The Blues are only three points clear of the relegation zone and will face the gruelling task of pulling further away ahead of clashes against the current Premier League top four, including Merseyside rivals Liverpool, in the coming weeks.

Ndiaye will be expected to continue his role as a regular starter for the Blues but has seen his productively stifled as of late, and there is a growing feeling that opposing top-flight sides have already figured out how to stop the talisman in his tracks.

Regardless, the Senegalese international has still proven to be one of few capable performers at Goodison Park, as Jesper Lindstrom and Jack Harrison fight for a starting berth on the right flank, and Dominic Calvert-Lewin continues his barren spell in front of goal.

However, Dwight McNeil and summer signing Armando Broja have stepped up their respective rehabilitations from injury.

They are eyeing a return following the international break, providing Ndiaye the much-needed support he needs to help get Everton going in the Premier League.

The Toffees are facing a make-or-break period to retain their top-flight status and could be in serious trouble of relegation come the New Year – Ndiaye’s form could be detrimental in ensuring this will not be the case.

In other Everton news, the Blues have been touted as the new landing spot for Alisson Santana.
