Everton one step away from agreeing new loan-to-buy signing - report

Everton are very close to a total agreement to sign Napoli playmaker Jesper Lindstrom, according to Corriere dello Sport.

As reported on page 11 of the Italian newspaper’s 18 July print edition, the Toffees are just one step away from securing a deal for the 24-year-old Dane, with a loan-to-buy switch being finalised.

An initial loan will be followed by an option for Everton to take him from Naples permanentl, for a fee of around £21million.

Lindstrom has spent just under a year in Serie A, having joined Napoli from Eintracht Frankfurt for a similar fee last summer, but new manager Antonio Conte is prepared to part with the player who only clocked up 413 league minutes in 2023-24.

Should Everton complete the deal to sign Lindstrom – initially on loan – he would become the third senior signing of the window for Sean Dyche’s side.

The club have already brought Iliman Ndiaye and Tim Iroegbunam to Goodison Park so far this summer, and Lindstrom would offer an attacking output either centrally or out wide.

The move to Italy has not worked the way Lindstrom or Napoli would have wanted, with the player named in the starting XI just twice in Serie A alongside 20 substitute appearances by comparison.

With Everton receiving fees for both Ben Godfrey and Lewis Dobbin – not to mention the expected sale of Amadou Onana in the coming days – the club find themselves in a position to be able to reinvest into the squad, a welcome piece of news for fans on Merseyside.

The player will be hoping as much as his imminent new club that his career can be realigned in the bright lights of the Premier League.
