Everton ace Seamus Coleman has been ruled out of the Republic of Ireland’s upcoming UEFA Nations League games against Finland and Greece due to injury, according to RTE.

The news outlet reported on 2 October that after the Toffees captain suffered a leg injury when he was last on international duty and he hasn’t featured for Sean Dyche’s team since.

This has left Everton in a bit of a pickle player-wise as Ashley Young has had to take up a more regular role than many likely expected.

Everton need Seamus Coleman back

Everton have endured a rather abysmal season so far. While the Toffees did manage to get their first Premier League win of the season against Crystal Palace with a 2-1 victory at Goodison Park, this hasn’t stopped Dyche’s future being a hot topic.

In fact, the manager himself admitted that he needed to “get things right” if he wanted to keep his job as Everton boss.

The Merseyside outfit’s defence has been a cause for concern for the vast majority of the season.

The likes of Jarrad Branthwaite and Nathan Patterson have only just returned to the fold following the injuries they sustained over the summer.

Coleman’s absence hasn’t helped matters much either but with Branthwaite now back in Dyche’s squad, things could start to look up for the Toffees, especially after his “outstanding” return to action against Palace.

The 35-year-old’s return would help ease the load upon the shoulders of Young and Roman Dixon and would provide Everton the opportunity to allow their players to have bigger rests between games.

There’s still plenty of time left in the season for things to be turned around at Goodison Park and should the Toffees perform as they did against Oliver Glasner’s men, it feels as if they’ll be more than fine.

In other Everton news, Ray Parlour has shared his Everton verdict after their 2-1 win against Crystal Palace.
