Everton are speeding up negotiations to sign Barcelona striker Vitor Roque, according to Sport 45.
The Spanish outlet reported [13 August] that Barcelona are prioritising a sale of the 19-year-old, with the player’s agent, Andre Cury, currently in Europe trying to find him a new club.
It is understood that the La Liga giants are being forced to tighten their squad and avoid registering players who complicate the wage bill, and they don’t plan on using the striker next season.
The Toffees are said to have a positive relationship with the player’s entourage, with Bournemouth and Al Hilal also interested.
Everton to sign Vitor Roque as Barcelona troubles emerge?
While a permanent deal would make more sense for Barcelona, given that manager Hansi Flick does not plan on using him, it could be a difficult sell at Goodison Park.
The Toffees have already bid £23.8million for the 19-year-old striker, as per Florian Plettenberg, but Barca immediately rejected the offer, wanting up to £30million.
Sean Dyche’s side could certainly afford to splash the cash if another star was to leave the club this summer, with current striker duo Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Beto both being linked with exits.
The young star has only made two La Liga starts since joining Barcelona in January, appearing as a substitute in 12 others, but he has still managed to notch two goals.
He was somewhat of a teenage prodigy back in Brazil, having broken into the Athletico Paranaense first-team squad in the summer of 2022, going on to score 28 goals in 81 appearances.
Roque’s energy, tenacity in front of goal and fearlessness could be exactly what Dyche needs from a striker moving forward, but with Iliman Ndiaye and Jesper Lindstrom already joining, funds might be lacking a little now.
If the Toffees are to acquire the 19-year-old this summer, they must hurry up with the player’s agent now in Europe, searching for his next destination.
In other Everton news, the Toffees are under so much pressure as risk emerges at Goodison Park.
