Jarrad Branthwaite wants to play for a top Premier League side ahead of a potential Everton exit next summer, according to talkSPORT.

The news outlet reported on Tuesday [5 November] via its website, that Manchester United will return for the 22-year-old at the end of the season after failing to land their man last summer.

Manchester United appointed Ruben Amorim to replace Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford, the managerial change has not affected the plans to move for Branthwaite, with sporting director Dan Ashworth viewing the centre-back as the perfect fit for the Portuguese’s preferred 3-4-3 formation.

Everton face a fight to hold on to Jarrad Branthwaite next summer

Sean Dyche has since been ridiculed for his decision to omit Branthwaite from the starting lineup in the 1-0 loss against Southampton on Saturday [2 November] and rightfully so, Everton are a much more formidable outfit with the defender in the side.

It is no coincidence that the Blues recorded the first win of the campaign in the same match Branthwaite returned to the side following a lengthy injury layoff in the 2-1 win against Crystal Palace.

Dyche has built his Everton defence around the England international; his absence has been detrimental to the side this term as the partnership of Michael Keane and James Tarkowski continues to cause problems for the Toffees.

However, Dan Friedkin must sell his vision to Branthwaite once he completes his prospective takeover, he remained an upstanding professional despite the constant uncertainty surrounding his future in the off-season but he may be ready to force his move from Goodison Park should he deem it necessary for his career.

While the long-term future of the club brings promise amid the new ownership, Branthwaite will not be short of potential suitors in the summer with Liverpool also keen to enter the frame albeit, it would take a world-record transfer offer for a move across Stanley Park to even enter the frame of discussion.

Regardless, it will be up to Friedkin to convince the defender his future is best served on the blue half of Merseyside but, with Everton now lingering two points above the relegation zone, it will be no easy feat.

In other Everton news, Jesper Lindstrom has made his case to start again for the Blues against West Ham United.
