Everton are planning to move for Porto manager Sergio Conceicao to replace Sean Dyche at Goodison Park, according to talkSPORT.
The news outlet reported on Tuesday [5 November] via its website, that the Blues view Conceicao as a progressive appointment in line with Dan Friedkin’s vision of the club.
Dyche is back in the firing line on Merseyside after the 1-0 loss to Southampton last weekend, the next two fixtures ahead of the November international break could decide his future.
Sergio Conceicao joins the long list of names to take the reins at Everton
Everton supporters must feel every reputable manager under the sun has been linked with a move to Goodison Park this season.
Goodison News exclusively revealed in October that Jose Mourinho and former Blues boss David Moyes are not under consideration to replace Dyche, however, the speculation continues to persist.
Graham Potter and Thomas Frank also join the list of names mentioned, the apparent criteria for the new Toffees boss is extensive Premier League experience but perhaps expanding the search outside of England could prove a more fruitful endeavor.
Conceicao established himself as a serial winner in Portugal, leading Porto to three league titles and achieving 11 major honours with the Primeira Liga side.
The 49-year-old managed one of the best sides in the division but still, finances are hardly flush in Portugal and, he managed to keep his side competitive domestically and in Europe with a shoestring budget in comparison to the top five leagues.
Everton would do well to find a manager who plays an attractive brand of attacking football paired with the credentials to match.
While movement on the managerial front is not expected until The Friedkin Group completes the proposed takeover of the Toffees, the board would be bordering on negligence if they did not conduct due diligence on potential targets amid the overriding feeling Dyche will not remain at Goodison Park beyond the current season.
Conceicao is as good as they get among those who would consider a move to the blue half of Merseyside, Everton should do everything to convince him to take the reins.
In other Everton news, Dan Friedkin is set to extend a ‘PR olive branch’ to Blues fans in the latest takeover twist.
