Torino have identified Everton ace Beto as their top target to strengthen their options in attack ahead of the January transfer window, according to Tuttosport.
The Turin-based newspaper reported via their website (24 December) that the Serie A club’s technical director Davide Vagnati is in “reckoning” with those responsible for the 26-year-old.
Torino are also evaluating Everton’s demands to let Beto leave on loan, with the fee expected to be between £2.4-3.3million.
The Toffees would also want the Italian outfit to cover the player’s wages for the six-month loan period, meaning the overall operation could cost them £4.4-6.2m.
Beto set for Goodison Park exit after Friedkin arrival at Everton
Beto is being heavily linked with a move away from Everton ahead of the January transfer window.
With Armando Broja and Youssef Chermiti back available, it would not be a surprise if the Goodison Park outfit sanctioned his exit.
The Toffees shelled out £25.75m to acquire Beto’s services from Udinese in 2023 [Sky Sports], but the transfer has not worked out.
He has bagged just seven goals and two assists in 49 appearances across all competitions for the Merseyside-based club so far.
Torino, though, are glad to take him back to Italy as they eye a new centre-forward for the second half of the season.
Beto might also be better off returning to Italy, where netted 22 goals in 65 games for Udinese.
With Everton’s demands coming to light, the ball is now in Torino’s court to strike a deal with Kevin Thelwell.
The fee, coupled with the investment from new owners The Friedkin Group, could allow Sean Dyche to strengthen his squad for the second half of the season.
