The Friedkin Group is closing in on their takeover of Everton and completion with a week is now considered an “optimistic” target, The i reports.
Farhad Moshiri and the Roma chiefs announced a deal in on 23 September but various regulatory hurdles had to be cleared before the Americans could come in at Goodison Park.
The aim has long been to be in place before the start of the January transfer window and behind-the-scenes work is said to have “intensified” in the past week, according to the 6 December report.
It is seen as “hugely-significant” that there is now substantial hope for Friedkin to be in before Christmas, after his previous bid to buy the club collapsed in July.
Indeed, Sky Sports journalist Alan Myers has also reported via X (7 December) he’s been told that the deal is on track for “mid-December”, with his prediction being for completion early in the week beginning 16 December.

Until it is official nothing can be taken for granted but there have been none of the indications this time around that there might be a problem.
In the summer concerns began to emerge regarding the £200million debt owed to former buyers 777 Partners and their lenders A-Cap.
Now though even those two companies’ involvement in a US-legal dispute is not expected to derail the Everton takeover, so the day supporters have been waiting for over the past few years looks to be just around the corner.
Sean Dyche may have finally lifted some pressure on his own head with the 4-0 win over Wolves on 4 December but his side’s uninspiring form otherwise leaves major doubt over his future.
The Friedkin Group will have a decision to make either way since his contract is expiring at the end of the season, as is that of a whole host of the playing staff, including Dominic Calvert-Lewin whom Football Insider has learned is a priority for the TFG to keep.
So the new owners can’t get their feet under the table quickly enough with so much vital work to be done, but it appears that will be able to start in a matter of days now.
In other news, one first-team ace is expected to sign a pre-contract next month to leave Goodison.
