Everton are looking to make a deal possible for Wilfried Gnonto by using the money gained from the sale of Amadou Onana, according to Paul Joyce.
The journalist reported on 15 July via The Times’ website that Onana is being brought in by Unai Emery as a straight replacement for Douglas Luiz in a £50million deal.
Despite Everton’s interest in Gnonto last summer, there’s more of a chance that the Italy international exits Leeds this summer due to the Whites’ failure to gain promotion.
Everton to add Wilfried Gnonto to their ranks this summer
Sean Dyche has already seen a vast amount of player changes occur at Goodison Park this summer.
Although many touted both Onana and Jarrad Branthwaite to exit the Merseyside club in the transfer window, it now seems as if just the former will depart.
It was well known that at least one of the two would have to be sold as, on paper, the duo are the Toffees’ most valuable assets.
The Belgium international was likely the preferred option of Dyche’s to leave the club, especially due to the importance of Branthwaite in Everton’s defensive line.
Although across the board Everton needed upgrades in order to avoid being dragged into another relegation battle, their attack was the main area of concern.
Iliman Ndiaye has been brought in and now, with Gnonto set to come upon to departure of Onana, things are looking up for Toffees fans.
Ex-Leeds United boss Jesse Marsch even described the 20-year-old as a “special talent” whilst in charge of the West Yorkshire outfit.
This will certainly be one to watch over the course of the summer.
In other Everton news, the Toffees are readying themselves to make a move for Juventus ace Arthur Melo.
