Everton are set to finalise a deal for Napoli winger Jesper Lindstrom in the next 24 hours, according to MailOnline.
In an article published by Simon Jones [25 July], the Toffees are nearing completion of a deal which would make Lindstrom the club’s third senior signing of the summer.
The move is set to constitute an initial loan, with an option to buy the 24-year-old at the end of the season [Tutto Mercato Web, 24 July].
Jones’ report also claims that Sean Dyche is keen on bringing Kalvin Phillips to Goodison Park, as well as another centre-back.
Everton go for Lindstrom, Phillips and a defender
Despite the upstairs chaos ensuing at Goodison Park regarding the club’s takeover process, the recruitment at Everton is certainly more organised than in years gone by.
The Athletic [24 July] noted the dark days of the summer of 2017, in which four attacking midfielders were all brought to the club amid farcical miscommunication among the hierarchy.
Now with a winger in Lindstrom set for Merseyside after a difficult season with Napoli in terms of game time, and an experienced England midfielder in Phillips looking to rekindle his career away from Manchester City, a centre-half would then complement Dyche’s arrivals nicely.
Another central midfielder, Tim Iroegbunam, has already arrived from Aston Villa alongside striker Iliman Ndiaye from Marseille.
The Toffees have registered an interest in Jake O’Brien, who has been superb at the back for Lyon since arriving last summer from Crystal Palace – but Brentford currently remain favourites for his signature.
In other Everton news, Jarrad Branthwaite has dropped a salary bombshell on the club.
