King questions 'Strange' US businessman decision amid Everton takeover update

Bryan King has questioned a “strange” decision made by Dan Friedkin following an Everton takeover update.

The ex-Goodison scout doesn’t understand why the Friedkin Group plans to continue loaning money to the club.

As per Everton’s official website (19 July), the Friedkin Group will not be progressing with their takeover at Goodison Park. However, they “will remain a lender to the Club”.

And King – speaking exclusively to Goodison News – doesn’t understand why this is.

“Following the breakdown of the takeover, he is still quite happy to loan money to Everton,” King said.

“If you’re going to loan vast sums of money to a football club, surely you want to be on the inside of what goes on at that club?

“It all seems a little bit strange to me at the moment. Who is paying for what, what bills are being paid?

“Things have certainly got to start taking an upward trend for Everton because it seems like every year is a struggle for the club.

“What the club really need to improve upon is their recruitment, they need to start bringing in some quality. They need to get back to basics, and reality.”

Just as there appeared to be some light at the end of the tunnel for the Toffees, that tunnel suddenly extended in length.

It looked as if the Friedkin Group were set to purchase the club. However, that is no longer the case.

Therefore, supporters will be desperate to find out what Farhad Moshiri plans to do next.

Meanwhile, the Freidkin Group will continue loaning money to the Toffees and will now become yet another group to which the club are indebted, rather than the saviours on Merseyside.
