Everton want Lyon striker after Mangala, approach now made - report

Everton want to sign Lyon striker Ernest Nuamah ahead of the August 30 deadline, according to L’Equipe.

The outlet reported on its website on 28 August that it would cost the Toffees a fee in the region of £25.2million to acquire his services.

Nottingham Forest as well as two Saudi Pro League teams have also shown an interest in the 20-year-old, with an approach made to seek the exit conditions.

With Orel Mangala also set to join on a loan-to-buy [Florian Plettenberg], Nuamah could be another new arrival from Lyon.

Everton have already undergone a lot of changes this summer and have welcomed a plethora of players to their team.

The likes of Iliman Ndiaye and former Napoli ace Jesper Lindstrom [Shamoon Hafez, 5 August] have been added to the Toffees’ ranks in a bid to try and improve their attack.

One of the main areas that needed improvement in the squad was that of their attack and especially if Dominic Calvert-Lewin leaves, they’ll need to recruit another striker.

Signing the 20-year-old for a fee over £25million would be quite a risk as the Ghanaian is yet to play more than one season within Europe’s top five leagues.

Last term he contributed to a total of five goals so there is plenty of development that is still needed for the Ghanaian to become a world-beater.

However, Everton making a move for the youngster could be worth it in the long run, especially with the promise he showed while playing for Lyon last term.
