Everton want to sign Atalanta striker - report

Everton are competing with Leicester City to sign Atalanta striker El Bilal Toure in this transfer window, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper has reported in its print edition [pg 109, 10 August] that the Toffees are up against both Leicester and AFC Bournemouth for the forward, who has been in Serie A for a single season.

Toure, 22, scored two league goals in 11 matches for Atalanta last term and has seven goals in 19 senior caps for Mali.

Everton chase new attacker transfer

Everton are looking for more options in the forward areas despite the signing of Iliman Ndiaye and the return of Neal Maupay from his Brentford loan.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has of course been heavily linked away and very nearly made the move to Newcastle United in June, which ultimately broke down.

Beto has also had his links away – including to Toure’s Atalanta [Calcio Mercato, 7 August] – and beyond that duo are Iliman Ndiaye, Neal Maupay and Youssef Chermiti.

Sean Dyche knows the side must pick up where they left off last season, and ignore the chaos ensuing upstairs regarding the club’s prospective takeover to perform on the field.

The team have plenty of senior leaders to be able to remain focused and organised, and it will be interesting to see how a potential chase for Toure develops.
