Everton want to sign int'l captain Sean Dyche loves, he's free to leave - report

Everton want to sign Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof this summer, with the defender free to leave according to talkSPORT.

Writing on their website (25 June), the news outlet report that Sean Dyche is a big fan of the Sweden captain and could make a move to sign him for the Toffees.

The 29-year-old could come in to replace Jarrad Branthwaite, who is wanted at Old Trafford, but talks between the two clubs for the 21-year-old England international are no closer to progressing toward an agreement.

Everton and Manchester United to strike agreement for a swap deal?

It’s the big transfer saga of the summer in the Premier League, and the Blues are holding firm in their hopes to keep hold of Branthwaite despite their financial position.

The club believe they are compliant with PSR rules after selling Lewis Dobbin to Aston Villa [Paul Joyce, 20 June] and that means they are capable of holding firm to their £70million valuation.

Manchester United have no intention of reaching that number, but there could be a compromise found if Dyche really does want to bring Lindelof into Goodison Park.

Keeping Jarrad Branthwaite would be a massive transfer boost for Everton.

A player-plus-cash deal is something that has become popular this summer and it would be the perfect way for Everton to get a deal done for a replacement as well as bringing in cash for their top asset.

It will be very interesting to see how this progresses, but it feels like another deal that has been added to the dominoes that keep getting stacked during the transfer window.

In other Everton news, Newcastle’s interest in Dominic Calvert-Lewin is not dead despite a deal collapsing.
