The FA and EFL are likely to investigate the scenes that followed Tottenham’s 4-3 win against Manchester United on Thursday, Keith Hackett has said.
After Son-Heung Min scored the fourth goal directly from a corner, replays in the stadium were shown which led to complaints from Altay Bayindir and his teammates after a tug on his arm from Lucas Bergvall.
Manchester United players surrounded John Brookes and the officials following the goal on 19 December, with an investigation likely to follow.
Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, the ex-PGMOL chief believes an investigation will be launched following the game.
“An interesting and unusual incident with regard to the big screen in the stadium tonight,” Hackett said.
“Manchester United’s players were furious as several replays of the goal scored by Son Heung-min were played.
“The Manchester United players were very unhappy for the video highlight appeared what looked like a foul on Altay Bayindir.
“Showing the goal from Son Heung-min is standard procedure but this was a controversial goal.

“Bayindir had already complained to referee John Brooks that he was fouled by Lucas Bergvall.
“With the incident replayed Man United’s Fernandes was yellow carded by referee John Brookes for shouting at him while pointing to the screen.
“The United skipper may have had a point but despite there being a big screen – there is no official use of VAR available.
“I have no doubt that this will be investigated by the league and the Football Association disciplinary panel.”
Fraser Forster will have been counting his blessings after watching his rival counterpart fluff his own lines after two mistakes in the second half.
The Turkish international just wasn’t strong enough, and the reactions following the footage were way over the top, leading to several bookings from Brookes.
Whether Tottenham will need to answer questions over playing the footage remains to be seen, but it could be part of a likely investigation to come.
In other Tottenham news, the club are anticipating January transfer approaches for one player who also started on Thursday.
