Ex-PL CEO: Tottenham set to agree deal for '£100m-valued' Son

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has claimed Tottenham will hand Heung-min Son a new two-year deal on improved wages.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – insisted the forward, 31, will still be valued at £100million despite his advancing years.

Son’s deal runs until 2025 and Tottenham have the option to extend that contract by a further 12 months, but no decision has been made public.

The Spurs captain, who has previously been linked with moves to Saudi Arabia and Turkey, scored 17 Premier League goals last term.

Football Insider revealed on Monday (24 June) that Tottenham have made contact with the representatives of Lille striker Jonathan David as they look to bolster their forward options.

Tottenham star Son still worth ‘£100m’, says Wyness

Wyness told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “It’s difficult for Tottenham.

“I do think they’ll increase his wages, but I don’t think it will be a big increase.

“In terms of his valuation, I think he’s still got to be worth around the £100million mark despite having a pretty poor season.

“Hopefully he can come back refreshed, and understand better what Ange Postecoglou wants from him – and hopefully Ange will get the tools to build the squad and formation around him a bit more.

“Spurs want to be free-scoring, that’s the message from the manager – and Son is key to that.

“I think Tottenham will want to tie him down to another two-year contract.”
