'Exceptional' winger is available for loan, and he's Arsenal's perfect signing - opinion
Time to get moving, Edu ????
It’s becoming increasingly clear that Mikel Arteta would prefer to welcome a game-changing winger to Arsenal this summer, rather than a new striker.
Two key factors may have led to Arteta’s decision, meaning Arsenal are unlikely to spend £100m on a player like Victor Osimhen.
First of all, Gabriel Jesus returned in incredible shape for Arsenal pre-season, seemingly putting an end to rumours of the Brazilian leaving north London.
Secondly, they weren’t able to sign Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig – the Slovenian chose to stay in the Bundesliga for one more season.
Sesko was seemingly the only striker Arsenal were prepared to move for this summer, a signing which may have actually led to Jesus leaving.
That being said, Jesus is staying, and he’ll provide strong competition for Kai Havertz at Arsenal this season.
But there’s evidently still an appetite to sign a new winger, someone who can cover for Bukayo Saka and also compete for a start on the left.
And following news that Man City now want Pedro Neto, it could be time for Arsenal to look elsewhere.
Arsenal can’t pass up opportunity to sign Kingsley Coman this summer
Fortunately for the Gunners, journalist Florian Plettenberg has just shared news on X that Bayern Munich winger Kingsley Coman is available for loan this summer.
28-year-old Coman is one of many talents on the ‘Arsene Wenger nearly signed’ list, and it could be time to finally bring the Frenchman to Arsenal.
Coman is available for a loan with or without the obligation to buy, which could be perfect for Arsenal.
Given his age, Arsenal may be reluctant to sign Coman permanently, particularly because of the injuries he’s suffered in his career.
However, a one-year stint at the Emirates could be perfect, an ‘exceptional’ winger who is yet to have a crack at the Premier League.
It was often felt that Arsenal lacked genuine pace last season, and Coman would certainly be able to provide that.
Loaning Coman wouldn’t come without it’s risks, as mentioned the Frenchman does have a chequered injury history, missing a lot of last season.
But the risk could be worth the reward for Arteta, who is beginning to run out of time.
