Exclusive: Aston Villa interested in signing ‘brilliant’ attacker who’s already scored against them this year
Six goals already this season ????
- EXCLUSIVE from Graeme Bailey
Aston Villa once again demonstrated their strength with a brilliant comeback victory against Fulham on Saturday, scoring three more goals.
Unai Emery’s side showed their character to overcome a one-nil deficit at Craven Cottage, taking themselves level on points with Manchester City and Arsenal temporarily.
Villa are now unbeaten for nine games, winning seven of those fixtures which included a victory over Bayern Munich.
However, such is Emery’s appetite to improve, Villa are certainly not resting on their laurels and are now interested in an audacious Premier League swoop.
TBR Football understands that Villa have joined the race for Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo.
Aston Villa ready to rival Premier League giants for Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo
Mbeumo has started the new season superbly, netting six goals in his opening eight league appearances, and several members of England’s top-six are looking closely at the 25-year-old.
Although, it’s not solely Mbeumo’s goals that are making him stand out right now – the Cameroon forward is also ranking highly among top analytical teams across the country.
Mbeumo’s stats put him among the top performers in Europe, explaining why TBR have previously confirmed that the attacker had been on the radar of top English clubs.
Arsenal, Liverpool, Man City and Newcastle United have been watching Mbeumo closely throughout 2025, and now Villa’s hierarchy are also keeping close tabs on his progress.
Mbeumo’s current deal expires in 2026, although Brentford also have an option to extend included in his contract.
Bryan Mbeumo could start alongside Ollie Watkins and Jhon Duran
Of course, Villa currently have a slight predicament of not being able to fit all of their strongest performers in one team.
Emery knows that both Ollie Watkins and Jhon Duran currently perform best as a sole number nine, supported by someone like Morgan Rogers.
Fortunately, Mbeumo is incredibly versatile across attacking positions, which is perhaps why Villa are interested in the signing.
‘Brilliant’ Mbeumo can play out wide in place of someone like Leon Bailey or even as a striker if needed.
An interesting one to follow, especially given Villa are also looking at strikers further afield.
