The result means Manchester United have now lost successive Premier League games at home by a 3-0 scoreline, after Liverpool’s victory at the start of September, with Arne Slot also embarrassing Ten Hag by tearing apart his tactics in a post-match interview.
In the aftermath of Manchester United 0-3 Tottenham, TBR Football have been given some information regarding Erik ten Hag’s future in Manchester.
Manchester United eye Gareth Southgate as pressure mounts on Erik ten Hag
TBR Football have been told that those in the boardroom at Old Trafford are hugely concerned by Manchester United’s form under the Dutchman so far this season.
It is believed that the Red Devils have Gareth Southgate high on their list of potential replacements for Ten Hag, and can swoop to hire the 54-year-old at any time after his departure from England in July 2024.
Manchester United sources have also informed TBR Football that the hierarchy are not planning to make a change in the dugout before the upcoming international break, although clashes against FC Porto, and particularly, the Premier League encounter with Aston Villa could prove decisive.
Some within the Football Department at Carrington do believe a new manager is needed immediately, although the general feeling is that Ten Hag will be given more time to turn the situation around.
INEOS also aware of Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter availability
Southgate – who boasts 138 career wins in management – is not the only manager INEOS are considering to replace Ten Hag.
Sources told TBR Football last week that Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter are both under consideration at Manchester United as well as the man born in Watford.
Tuchel has been out of work since leaving Bayern Munich at the end of last season, whereas Potter has not managed any side since Chelsea sacked him back in April 2023.
Fabrizio Romano has even claimed that Tuchel is “really keen” to manage Manchester United as the German targets a return to English football, although TBR Football understand Southgate would be first choice if Ten Hag is handed his P45.
Ultimately, the next two games could prove decisive for the 54-year-old at Old Trafford.
