Exclusive: Man United reach agreement with Ruben Amorim and his key staff as they close on Sporting deal

Manchester United have reached agreement with Ruben Amorim to become their new head coach, as well as his key backroom staff, TBR Football understands.

When approaching Amorim, we are told that United confirmed to him during their initial conversations – which first took place earlier this month – that they would sanction the arrival of any members of his backroom staff.

Now, after the departure of Erik ten Hag on Monday, talks over a deal for Amorim have accelerated to the point where United are close to finalising his arrival.

A handful of staff are also due to arrive with Amorim, and we understand agreements are already in place with his closest confidants in the shape of assistants Carlos Fernandes and Adelio Candido.

Amorim to become United’s youngest ever Premier League boss

39-year-old Amorim, who will become United’s youngest manager in the Premier League era, has agreed a long-term deal and we are told his staff have similar deals in place.

With those agreements almost finalised, Sporting have been working with United on the payment of his release clause.

The Portuguese giants confirmed via the country’s stock exchange on Tuesday that United had informed them they would be willing to pay the clause which is €10million.

“Manchester United FC have expressed an interest in hiring coach Ruben Amorim,” the statement read.

“And the Board of Directors of Sporting SAD has referred to the terms and conditions set out in the employment contract in force between the company and the coach.

“Specifically the respective termination clause and the amount of 10 million euros.”

Sir Jim Ratcliffe ready to pay Sporting Lisbon asking price

TBR Football revealed on Monday that United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe was ready to pay whatever was deemed necessary to get their man, and that is just what is happening.

Untied and Sporting are now working on Amorim’s departure timeline, and we understand the Old Trafford giants are confident that a deal for their new boss will be finalised before the weekend although it is yet to be agreed whether he will be in charge for Sunday’s game with Chelsea.

Amorim took charge of Sporting for what is likely to be the last time on Tuesday evening as he guided them to a 3-1 victory over Nacional in their Portuguese League Cup quarter final clash.

Sporting have already agreed a deal with former player Joao Pereira to succeed Amorim.
