Manchester City have been rocked by the news of Rodri missing the rest of the season and it now looks like they’re joining the race for a potential replacement.
Rodri’s absence is already being felt by City and they are struggling for the consistency they usually show when the Spaniard is in the line up.
Of course, with January just around the corner and the summer window to come as well, City might have the chance to strengthen.
And according to TBR Football sources, City have now made their presence known when it comes to one of Europe’s most in-demand players.
Man City watching Martin Zubimendi as race hots up
Martin Zubimendi has emerged as one of the hottest properties in European football and Zubimendi even turned down Liverpool in the summer.
However, all is not lost for English clubs looking to sign him,
TBR Football understands that Arsenal and Liverpool are both keeping tabs on his situation following summer snubs.
However, neither side convinced he wants to leave Spain at this moment in time, albeit they remain hopeful it could be a possibility.
Furthermore, TBR Football can confirm Manchester City have been watching Zubimendi recently. It is believed City are looking at changes going into next summer with big stars potentially leaving, including Kevin De Bruyne.
Zubimendi perfect while Rodri is out
It very much seems like Zubimendi is going to have the pick of which club he joins next and a move to City might be too hard to turn down.
At £51m, he’s not too expensive in terms of modern day midfielders and he could slot in for Rodri with ease.
Of course, the issue for Zubimendi at City is when Rodri does come back, does he then get in the team?
A move to Liverpool or Arsenal is likely to serve him better in terms of regular football but with City the dominant force and the Pep Guardiola effect still in full swing, the young Spaniard may find it hard to say no.
