Ryan Gravenberch has undoubtedly been one of Liverpool’s most important players this season.
The Dutch midfielder has taken to life under Arne Slot like a duck to water, and he’s earned due plaudits for his showings.
Pundits have raved over Gravenberch this season, and according to a list published by ESPN, the midfielder is now one of Liverpool’s most important players.
ESPN’s 5 most important Liverpool players 1. Virgil van Dijk 2. Mohamed Salah 3. Trent Alexander-Arnold 4. Ryan Gravenberch 5. Ibrahima Konate
However, speaking on ESPN, Shaka Hislop disagreed with this ranking, claiming that there was a glaring omission from this list.
Indeed, the pundit believes that Luis Diaz really should’ve been included on this list ahead of Gravenberch despite the Dutchman’s brilliant performances this season.

Luis Diaz is more important than Ryan Gravenberch
Hislop shared his verdict on who Liverpool’s most important players are.
The pundit claimed that the £37m winger is actually more important than Gravenberch.
“Where is Luis Diaz? For me he has to be in that list. Where and ahead of who? I would probably have Diaz ahead of Gravenberch and Konate drops out. Gravenberch has been good, but let me put it this way. If I had to pick a team tomorrow and I had to pick one of Diaz and Gravenberch, I’d pick Luis Diaz,” Hislop said.
Luis Diaz stats this season
Hislop says that Diaz is one of Liverpool’s most important players, and the stats this season certainly back that up.
The Colombian has been red hot this term, and Diaz has been hailed for his improvement under Arne Slot
Luis Diaz stats this season Games 16 Goals 9 Assists 3
Other than Mohamed Salah, Diaz has been Liverpool’s most decisive attacking player, and it’s fair to say that the winger is one of the first names on Liverpool’s teamsheet every single week.
Of course, Gravenberch has influenced this team in his own way. The midfielder has brought an element of control to the Liverpool midfield that has been missing since Fabinho was in his prime, and he deserves so much credit for the way he has stepped up this term.
Regardless of which player you believe has been the most important for Liverpool at the moment, it’s fair to say the entire squad is combining to make this potentially a very special season.
